What I wish this wasn’t the first blog post for this website. There are plenty of other topics that are worth writing about, clients to showcase and tips to suggest. But in these times of uncertainty and anxiety, it makes the most sense (and gives my mind a little peace) to compile some resources that may help a few of you in the days ahead.
Since most of my clients are psychologists, therapists and social workers, I wanted to try and gather some resources that would be most helpful to those in those particular fields. Many associations, groups and universities have compiled some excellent lists. Find just a few of them below.
Resources for Therapists
- The National Register of Health Service Psychologists offers an extensive list of resources for telepsychology (telehealth, teletherapy) as well as information about COVID-19.
- The American Psychological Association has practice resources that include information on telehealth billing, a FAQ for psychologists that have concerns about coronavirus and telepsychology best practices.
- University of Redlands provides resources for mental health practices. They have information for practitioners and their clients, including telehealth practice guidelines and technology resources.
- If you’re an art therapist or provide art therapy at your practice, American Art Therapy Association has some helpful tips on how to continue your practice during COVID-19.
- TheraNest is offering a 21-day free trial of their services.
- SecureTelehealth is offering a 14-day free trial.
In addition to these mental health practice related resources, there are a plethora of options available to small business owners at the national, state and regional level.
I highly recommend Googling “resources for small businesses in *your state*” and the same for your region or county. Along with this, many businesses are offering their services at a discounted rate, extending trial periods or offering extended service periods. Take advantage of these offers while you can!
Here are a few links to resources that are currently available for most small businesses:
Small Business Resources
- Here’s the U.S. Small Business Administration’s page for small business loans and resources.
- Inc.com has a great list of free tools, resources and financial aid for small businesses.
- If you’re a woman and run your own business, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) has a great list for you.
These are just a few resources out of many out there. Do a little more in depth searching to fit your specific needs and see what’s available for you. You’d be surprised what businesses, individuals and communities have pulled together to support their peers.
Hang in there. Stay home if you can and remember, this too shall pass.
